Alexander is a love song to a leader and, like all stories of hero worship, it's sad. It isn't only about Donald: we're from Britain and in our recent history we've repeatedly rallied behind charismatic men and women who have transpired to be vacuous, narcissistic, and hugely destructive. Alexander the Great literally conquered the known world in a frenzy of imperial gluttony. Within a few years of his death, that empire had vanished. The thirst for power is not only insatiable, it is deeply and inevitably tragic.
